Subtitles and Closed Captions in Gradual
Gradual livestream events support displaying Closed Captions sent to Gradual along with your stream.
By default, each stage created as part of the livestream event can display captions, but the option to display captions on the front end will only appear if the stream has captions embedded within.
Gradual doesn’t generate the captions for you, but using commercially available tools (e.g. AI-Media, EEG Falcon, 3Play, Verbit, Webcaptioner) your captions can be embedded into your H.264 RTMP stream and displayed in Gradual.
Gradual supports receiving closed captions embedded in the H.264 video stream using the CEA-608 standard for a single language. Captions are by default configured to be US English (en-US
) and are should be transmitted on caption channel 1 (cc1
). These are the default configurations for most caption providers.
