Custom Field Mapping in Hubspot

Custom Field Mapping allows you to map the custom fields on a user’s profile within Gradual directly to contact fields in Hubspot. Previously you’d need to map data with workflows, but now this data can be mapped and updated directly. Standard contact fields like email, first name, and last name have always mapped directly to the contact fields in Hubspot. This updated integration applies to additional information like LinkedIn Profile, interest, etc. To learn even more about the Hubspot integration to Gradual, reference this resource

You’ll customize this mapping in the Gradual dashboard.

💡 Pro Tip: Currently the dashboard won’t display the current mapping once you save and refresh the view, but you can update the mapping at any time. A best practice is to save a screenshot or document your mapping before saving and exiting.

1
From the Gradual dashboard, choose  Integrations from the drop down menu, and find  Hubspot Timeline Events, and switch to  Enable.
2
From the options that appear, select  Contact Information Mapping. This gives the opportunity to select which Gradual fields map to which fields in Hubspot. Include the fields you want, and then hit save. You can validate from the  Onboarding Timeline Event that these fields are now mapping correctly.

Some Notes:

  • Fields without any information will not overwrite fields in Hubspot
  • You don’t need to map every field to a field in Hubspot for the mapping to work
  • This only applies to contact information fields captured in Gradual not event registration information. Information from the event-based timeline events still should be mapped to contact fields using workflows if needed.
  • Due to rate limit on their API, we do not implement a timeline event for profile updates.
  • A full list of fields available to map can be found here.
