Gradual supports native integration with Google Analytics, allowing you to use GA4 in your Gradual instance to capture web traffic and analytics.
This integration replaces our Google Tag Manager integration if you are only using Tag Manager to launch Google Analytics.
Setting up the Google Analytics Integration
Step 1: Finding and copying your Google Analytics Measurement ID
Your measurement ID is 'G-' followed by a string of numbers and letters. (e.g. 'G-PSW1MY7HB4').
To locate your measurement ID, please follow these instructions provided by Google.
Step 2: Enabling the GA integration in Gradual
Log in to dashboard.gradual.com as a Community Administrator
Navigate to Integrations in the lefthand menu
Scroll down to "Traffic Tracking" and locate Google Analytics
Enter your Google Analytics Measurement ID
Click "Save"
Return to Google Analytics to verify your data stream is active
Troubleshooting and Best Practices
The Google Analytics integration should start sending data as soon as it is activated in Gradual. To test, visit your community front-end to verify the traffic is being captured.
We recommend having a separate property in Google Analytics for your Gradual instance instead of using the same GA property as your website. This allows for cleaner tracking and analysis.
If you're not seeing data flowing from Gradual, ensure that the setup steps were followed correctly above and the integration is showing as active. You can also verify using browser tools or the inspector to ensure the Google Analytics tracking is active on the front-end of your community. If you're still having trouble, please consult Google's troubleshooting tips or reach out to [email protected].
