Integrating Accredible with Gradual

Connect Accredible with Gradual to automatically issue digital credentials when members complete courses. Admins can connect their Accredible account, map Gradual courses to Accredible Groups, and manage the integration from the admin dashboard.

About the Accredible Integration

Accredible is a digital credentialing platform for issuing certificates and digital badges.

The Accredible integration allows your community to automatically issue an Accredible credential when a member completes a mapped course in Gradual. Accredible sends the credential directly to the member using their name and email address in Gradual.

Dashboard admins can set up and manage the integration.

Note: Accredible API Access is required to connect your account to Gradual. API Access is a paid add-on for Accredible’s self-serve plans.

Connect Accredible to Gradual

Before getting started, retrieve your API key from Settings > API & Integrations in your Accredible dashboard.

To connect Accredible:

  1. From the Gradual admin dashboard, navigate to Integrations.

  2. Find Accredible and select Set Up.

  3. Enter your API Key.

  4. Select your Server Region:

    • Select US for standard Accredible accounts.

    • Select EU if your Accredible account URL is eu.dashboard.accredible.com.

  5. If you use an Accredible sandbox organization, select This is a sandbox organization.

  6. Select Connect.

Gradual will verify the connection with Accredible. Once connected, you can begin mapping Gradual courses to Accredible Groups.

If Gradual cannot connect, confirm that your API key and server region are correct and try again.

Map Gradual Courses to Accredible Groups

Mappings determine which Accredible credentials members receive after completing courses in Gradual.

After connecting your account, Gradual loads the available Groups from Accredible into the Gradual Courses → Accredible Groups section.

To create a mapping:

  1. Select Add mapping.

  2. Select a Gradual course or learning path.

  3. Select the corresponding Accredible Group.

  4. Add additional mappings as needed.

  5. Select Save to save your mappings.

A Gradual course can be connected to multiple Accredible Groups, allowing members to receive more than one credential for completing the same course. You can also connect the same Accredible Group to multiple Gradual courses.

To remove an individual mapping, select the remove option beside that mapping.

Note: Credentials are issued only for course completions that occur after a mapping is created. Credentials are not automatically issued for members who completed the course before the mapping was added.

How Credentials Are Issued

Once the integration and mapping are active, no additional action is required from the admin.

When a member meets the existing completion requirements for a mapped course, Gradual sends their completion information to Accredible. The credential includes:

  • The member’s full name

  • The member’s email address

  • The mapped Accredible Group

  • The course completion date

Accredible then issues the credential and sends the credential email directly to the member.

If a credential from the same Accredible Group has already been issued to the member’s email address, another credential will not be issued.

If you also use the Credly integration and the same course is mapped to a Credly badge template, completing the course will issue both the Accredible and Credly credentials.

Edit Your Accredible Integration

You can update your course and credential mappings at any time.

From Dashboard > Integrations, find the Accredible integration and select Edit from the more options menu.

From the configuration window, you can add, update, or remove course mappings. Select Save when you’re finished making changes.

You can also use the toggle on the Integrations page to view and manage the integration’s current status.

Review Accredible Errors

If Gradual encounters an issue connecting to Accredible or issuing a credential, you can review it in the Error Log within the Accredible configuration window.

The log includes the time of the error, its category, a description of the issue, and additional details to help you resolve it.

Errors can include:

  • Connection errors: The Accredible connection failed, or the API key has expired or been revoked.

  • Credential issuance errors: A credential could not be issued or a mapped Accredible Group no longer exists.

  • Recipient allowance exceeded: Your Accredible account has reached its annual recipient limit. Credentials cannot be issued until additional capacity is available.

  • API rate limit: Accredible’s API rate limit has been reached, temporarily pausing credential issuance.

For connection errors, confirm that your API key is active and that the correct server region is selected. If an Accredible Group has been removed, update your course mappings to use an available Group.

Remove the Accredible Integration

Removing the integration permanently clears its configuration from Gradual.

To remove it:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Integrations.

  2. Find the Accredible integration.

  3. Select Remove.

  4. Confirm that you want to remove the integration.

Removing the integration deletes the saved Accredible connection, all course mappings, and the integration’s error logs. This action cannot be reversed.

Integration changes, including removal, are recorded in the dashboard Activity Log.
