Course Certificate

How to create a certificate to be issued after a course is completed.

You can create and customize certificates for each course you offer. Certificates help members showcase their course achievements in the community.

Accessing Certificates

Each course includes a Certificates tab where you can view and manage all related certificates.

By default, no certificate is created for a new course. To begin, click Add Certificate.

Setting Up a Certificate

When creating a certificate, you’ll first configure the following details:

  • Certificate Name – The title that appears on the certificate.

  • Expiry Date – Optional. Set an expiration date if certificates should no longer be valid after a specific time.

Customizing the Certificate

All certificate settings appear on the left-hand side of the editor. From there, you can:

  • Toggle elements on or off, such as:

    • Issuer logo

    • Certificate ID

    • URL

    • QR code

    • Score display

  • Upload assets, including:

    • A unique issuer logo (if different from your community’s main logo)

    • A certificate background image (note: the center area is blurred by default)

    • An issuer signature (optional)

  • Adjust fonts by using the dropdown

Member Experience

Once a user completes a course:

  • They will see a popup prompting them to view their certificate.

  • Learners can download the certificate as a PDF or share it directly to LinkedIn and other social platforms.

Managing Certificates

After certificates have been issued for a course, you can manage them under the Course Certificates tab.

From this view, you can:

  • View and download individual certificates

  • Update an issued certificate to use the latest certificate design and the recipient’s current community name

  • Reset expiry dates

  • Revoke certificates entirely, if needed

  • View each certificate’s update history

Update an Issued Certificate

If you’ve updated your certificate design or a member has changed their name in the community after a certificate was issued, you can update that individual certificate without affecting the learner’s course completion.

To update a certificate:

  1. Open the course’s Certificates tab.

  2. Find the recipient in the certificate list.

  3. Open the Actions menu.

  4. Select Update Certificate.

  5. Confirm the update.

When the certificate is updated:

  • The latest certificate design is applied.

  • The recipient’s current community name is used.

  • The certificate ID, verification URL, QR code, issue date, and course completion remain unchanged.

Updating a certificate refreshes the existing certificate. It does not issue a new certificate or change the learner’s completion status.

Certificate History

Each certificate includes a History column that tracks changes made after it was issued.

Select the history count to view a record of updates made to that certificate, including:

  • When the change was made

  • Which admin made the change

  • What was updated, such as certificate updates or expiry date changes
