Course Lessons and Content

Add or edit lessons within the course and chapters from the dashboard

Updated today

Each course is made up of lessons that are organized into chapters. The courses feature supports video lessons and text content lessons.

Add Lessons

You can add lessons to the course from within the Course Content tab in the course dashboard. You can add video or text content lessons, or both!

Add Video Lesson

  1. Navigate to the Course Content tab of the course dashboard

  2. Select the '+Add' button and select 'Video Lesson'

  3. Give the lesson a title - this is required to create a lesson

  4. Add a video to the lesson - this is required to create a lesson

    1. You can drag a file to the upload box or select 'Upload a video'

    2. The video uploaded must be a video file (.mp4, .avi, .mov) and cannot be a video URL

      1. This is so the system can track the learners' viewing of the entire video

  5. Add a description to the video

    1. Descriptions can be rich text, similar to course descriptions and content blogs or resources

  6. Save the lesson as a draft

    1. If you're still working on the details of the lesson, you can save the lesson as a draft.

    2. Later, you can complete and publish the lesson

  7. Complete and publish the lesson

    1. If you're finished and you want to publish the lesson, you can save it from here.

Video progress manipulation:

As the admin, you can decide if enrollees can manipulate the video progress by fast-forwarding the video to complete the lesson, or if they are blocked from moving the video progress bar ahead.

To block users from being able to fast-forward video lessons, toggle ON the 'Completion requires watching full video' setting.

If this is ON, learners are not allowed to drag the progress bar forward, and the system will alert them if they select the 'Complete' button before finishing the video.

If this is OFF, learners can drag the video progress bar forward, fast-forwarding through the video lesson.

In both cases, learners can always rewind and play back the video from the beginning.

Add Text Content Lessons

  1. Navigate to the Course Content tab of the course dashboard

  2. Select the '+Add' button and select 'Rich text content lesson'

  3. Give the lesson a title - this is required to create a lesson

  4. Add text content to the lesson - this is required to create a lesson

    1. The content editor allows for rich text, formatting, code blocks, video or image embeds and more. Reference this resource to learn about the capabilities.

  5. Save the lesson as a draft

    1. If you're still working on the details of the lesson, you can save the lesson as a draft.

    2. Later, you can complete and publish the lesson

  6. Complete and publish the lesson

    1. If you're finished and you want to publish the lesson, you can save it from here.

Edit Lessons

To change any of the elements of the lesson, you can select the Edit button in the upper right of the lesson page.

If you are changing a lesson that is currently being watched or taken by an enrollee, the system will prompt you to wait and make the edits after the user(s) are finished.

If you need to delete and replace a video, simply select the trash icon in the upper right of the video block/display.

IMPORTANT: The changes will be updated to all the existing enrollees of the course. Completion status won’t change for enrollees who’ve already finished the course but progress tracking will adjust for enrollees who are still completing the course.

Delete a Lesson

To delete a lesson, admins will navigate to the content lesson dashboard and select 'Delete' from the Action drop-down, or the edit menu in the course chapter display.

If you are deleting a lesson that is currently being watched or taken by an enrollee, the system will prompt you to wait and delete the lesson after the user(s) are finished.

Deleting a lesson is permanent and cannot be reversed.
