Build and Manage Community Content with an AI Assistant

Create, edit, organize, and publish blogs, resources, and videos in Gradual using an AI assistant.

Gradual allows you to create and manage community content directly through an AI assistant using Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Instead of manually creating and updating each piece of content in your Gradual Dashboard, you can describe what you want to do in natural language. Your AI assistant can help you create blogs, resources, and on-demand videos, organize content, manage access settings, and publish content to your community.

This guide covers how to use an AI assistant to manage content in Gradual.

Before You Get Started

To manage community content using an AI assistant, you need:

  • A Gradual account with permission to manage blogs, resources, or videos.

  • An AI assistant connected to your Gradual community through MCP.

  • MCP enabled for your Gradual community.

If MCP has not been enabled for your community, contact the Gradual Support team.

To set up your connection, follow Connect Your AI Assistant to Gradual Using MCP.

Once connected, you can manage content by entering instructions directly into your AI assistant.

Note: Your AI assistant follows the same permissions as your Gradual account. It cannot access or modify content that you do not have permission to manage.

Create Blogs and Resources

You can use your AI assistant to create new blogs and resources by providing a title, content type, and instructions for the content.

Create a Blog

  1. Open your connected AI assistant.

  2. Describe the blog you want to create.

  3. Include the title, topic, intended audience, and any specific sections or information.

  4. Ask your AI assistant to create the blog in Gradual.

  5. Open the blog in your Gradual Dashboard to review the content.

Example prompt:

  • Create a blog titled “5 Ways to Increase Community Engagement.”

  • Write an introduction explaining why community engagement matters.

  • Include five practical strategies with examples and a short conclusion.

  • Use a professional and friendly tone.

Your AI assistant creates the blog using the information you provide.

You can continue refining the content by asking for changes.

For example:

Update the blog “5 Ways to Increase Community Engagement” by adding an example of how community events can encourage member participation.

Create a Resource

Resources can be created using the same process.

Example prompt:

  • Create a resource titled “New Member Onboarding Checklist.”

  • Include a checklist covering profile setup, joining community discussions, finding relevant resources, and registering for events.

  • Organize the content into clear sections with actionable steps.

Your AI assistant creates the resource in Gradual.

You can review and edit it in your Dashboard before publishing.

Tip: Provide as much detail as possible about the content’s purpose, structure, and intended audience. This helps your AI assistant create content that meets your needs.

Find and Edit Existing Content

You can use your AI assistant to find existing blogs and resources and update their information.

Find Content

Ask your AI assistant to list existing content or locate a specific item.

Example prompts:

  • List all blogs in my community.

  • Find the resource titled “Getting Started Guide.”

Your AI assistant retrieves the matching content from Gradual.

Edit Content

Once you identify the content, you can ask your AI assistant to update its title, description, body, or other supported details.

Example prompt:

  • Find the blog “Welcome to Our Community” and update the introduction to make it more welcoming to new members.

  • Keep the rest of the article unchanged.

You can also make multiple changes in one request.

Example prompt:

  • Update the resource “Community Guidelines.”

  • Add a section about respectful communication and update the conclusion to include instructions for contacting community administrators.

Tip: Use the exact content title when requesting updates to help your AI assistant identify the correct item.

Organize Content with Categories and Tags

Categories and tags help organize your community content and make it easier for members to find relevant information.

Manage Blog Categories

You can ask your AI assistant to list existing blog categories.

Example prompt:

Show me all blog categories in my community.

You can also create a new category.

Example prompt:

Create a blog category called “Community Updates.”

After creating the category, you can use it when organizing blogs.

Example prompt:

Update the blog “October Community News” to use the “Community Updates” category.

Manage Content Tags

Tags can be added when creating or updating content.

Example prompt:

Add the tags “Onboarding,” “Getting Started,” and “Community Tips” to the resource “New Member Onboarding Checklist.”

Your AI assistant adds the specified tags.

If a tag does not already exist, Gradual creates it automatically.

You can also ask your AI assistant to list existing tags before assigning them to content.

Create and Manage On-Demand Videos

You can use your AI assistant to create and manage on-demand videos in Gradual.

Unlike blogs and resources, videos require an existing video URL.

Create an On-Demand Video

  1. Open your connected AI assistant.

  2. Provide the video title and video URL.

  3. Include any additional details, such as a summary, thumbnail image URL, transcript, or tags.

  4. Ask your AI assistant to create the video.

  5. Review the video in your Gradual Dashboard.

Example prompt:

  • Create an on-demand video titled “Getting Started with Our Community.”

  • Video URL: [Video URL]

  • Thumbnail URL: [Image URL]

  • Summary: An introduction to our community, including how to complete a profile, explore content, and participate in events.

  • Tags: Onboarding, Getting Started

The video is created as a draft.

You can also provide additional information, including:

  • Video duration.

  • Speaker information.

  • A video transcript.

  • Content tags.

  • The community or club where the video belongs.

Edit an Existing Video

You can ask your AI assistant to find and update an existing video.

Example prompt:

  • Find the video “Getting Started with Our Community.”

  • Update its summary to include information about joining community discussions and attending upcoming events.

You can also update the video’s URL, thumbnail, transcript, and other supported details.

Important: Video and image files cannot be uploaded directly through MCP. Provide an existing hosted URL when adding videos or images.

Manage Content Access

You can use your AI assistant to control who can access your blogs, resources, and videos.

Access settings allow you to manage content visibility based on your community’s membership and space settings.

Update Access for Blogs and Resources

Example prompt:

Update the resource “New Member Onboarding Checklist” so that it is accessible to community members.

You can also update access settings for multiple pieces of content.

Update Video Access

Video access can also be managed through your AI assistant.

Example prompt:

After updating access settings, review the content in your Gradual Dashboard to confirm that the intended audience has access.

Publish and Unpublish Content

You can use your AI assistant to publish blogs, resources, and videos once they are ready.

Publish a Blog or Resource

Example prompt:

Publish the blog “5 Ways to Increase Community Engagement.”

Your AI assistant publishes the selected content.

You can also publish a resource.

Example prompt:

Publish an On-Demand Video

Videos are created as drafts and must be published before they become available to their intended audience.

Unpublish Content

You can also ask your AI assistant to unpublish content.

Example prompt:

  • Unpublish the blog “Outdated Community Announcement.”

  • Unpublishing removes the content from its published state.

Important: Featured content cannot be unpublished while it is featured. Remove the content from the featured section before unpublishing it.

Schedule Blog and Resource Publication

You can schedule blogs and resources to be published at a specific date and time.

This is useful for planning community announcements, educational content, and recurring updates.

Schedule Publication

Example prompt:

Schedule the blog “November Community Updates” to publish on November 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time.

Your AI assistant schedules the publication based on the date and time you provide.

Tip: Always include a time zone when scheduling content.

Cancel Scheduled Publication

You can cancel an existing publication schedule.

Example prompt:

Cancel the scheduled publication of the blog “November Community Updates.”

After canceling the schedule, review the content’s publication status in your Gradual Dashboard.

Manage Featured Content

Featured content allows you to highlight selected blogs, resources, and videos on your community’s content page.

You can use your AI assistant to manage which items are featured and how they are organized.

Feature Content

Example prompt:

Feature the blog “Welcome to Our Community” as the primary content on our community’s content page.

Reorder Featured Content

Important:

  • Featured content must remain published.

  • Content restricted to members cannot be featured.

  • To unpublish featured content, remove it from the featured section first.
