This guide explains the Question post type and how posters and moderators can mark comments as 'accepted answers' in the Forum. This feature is designed for community members, moderators, and administrators who use question-style posts to manage support, guide accurate knowledge sharing, and user engagement.
Question Post Type
Community members can post questions in the forum as a designated 'Question' post type. This better prompts other members to provide answers as comments versus discussion.
Important: Board settings determine if boards can accept both kinds of posts, or if the board is exclusively for discussion, or exclusively for questions. These settings are handled by the admin in the individual board's dashboard.
To configure what type of posts are allowed in the board, you will navigate to the board detail page in the dashboard, and in Post Types, select the types you want to allow members to use.
Creating a Question Post
When creating a new post, users can select the post type (Discussion or Question) during creation. The default post type is 'Discussion' from the forum homepage.
Members can also decide on what type of post it will be in the post creation page.
Labeling
Question posts are marked with a unique 'Question' label in forum lists and on the post detail page once they are posted.
You cannot change the post type in the initial phase of this feature, so the post will remain a question or a discussion post type from the post creators initial post.
Mark as 'Accepted Answer'
The Mark as Answer feature enables post creators and Forum moderators to highlight one or more replies as accepted answers to the question. This makes it easier for other members to identify solutions, rewards helpful contributors, and increases post visibility and clarity across the forum.
Only the original poster and forum moderators can mark answers.
The original poster and forum moderators simply select the check mark on the forum post comment, and the comment will be marked as an accepted answer
Once marked, the reply is labeled as the Accepted Answer and displayed prominently in a dedicated section below the post
Forum Moderators and posters can reorder the answers or unmark accepted answers on the front end
Rules and Limits
The post creator cannot mark their own comments as answered (unless they are a moderator)
Only one reply per member per post can be marked
Each post can have up to 3 accepted answers
Members can receive up to 5 accepted answers per day
Members can mark up to 3 accepted answers per day in their own posts (does not reset if unmarked)
Moderators have no daily limits
Display of Accepted Answers
Question posts marked with accepted answers will show as 'Answered and will appear in a dedicated Answer section below the post so other members can see them front and center before reading other comments.
Forum Moderators and posters can reorder the answers and unmark accepted answers on the front end, in the forum.
Filters & Reactions
Members can filter the post's comment section to find the best answers, and can react to the answers or reply directly to the comment.
They can also filter all forum posts to find only questions, answered questions, discussions, etc.
Notifications
The system will notify the poster when a comment has been marked as 'answered' on their post and will notify the commenter who provided the correct comment answer. Notifications are sent via email and in-app, depending on the members' notification preferences.
Contribution Rewards
Members whose replies are accepted can earn a contribution and 15 points by default. This contribution and points are logged in the member’s profile and the admin dashboard.
If the accepted answer is later unmarked, the points are withdrawn but no withdrawal occurs if the post or comment is deleted.
