The board topics are displayed at the top of the board’s main page, and act as a sub-board within the forum board. They are important as they are what prompt topic based conversation, and better organize your club forum board.
Board topics pull from your community's Tags and are consistent and available across the platform.
You can also customize how board topics appear by setting a default topic style for your community. Individual boards can either follow the community default or use their own topic style.
Set board topics
To add topics, navigate to the Board Topics section in your dashboard
Select Edit
Select +Add
Choose from the list of topics in the community - these are all the Tags loaded in the dashboard/community
Or, add a topic by typing in the name and selecting 'Create a new topic..."
This name is what will appear to users on the front end, so be sure it's accurate and public-facing
You can reorganize how the list appears to users on the front end by dragging and dropping
Select 'Save' to confirm adding the topic(s)
There is a limit of 50 topics that can be added to the board.
Set the default board topic style
Choose a default topic style to control how board topics appear across your community.
Go to Forum > Forum Settings.
Under Default Board Topic Style, select Edit.
Choose the topic style you want to use.
Select Save.
Boards that follow the community default will automatically use this style.
Override the topic style for a board
If you want a board to use a different topic style from the rest of your community:
Open the board and select Edit in the Board Topics section.
Under Board Topic Style, select Override.
Choose the topic style for this board.
Select Save.
To use the community-wide setting, leave Follow Community Default selected.
Board Topics on the Front End
On the front end, any topics assigned or added to the board via the dashboard will generate a topic block that users can use to drill down to the posts and topics they want to see. Members will see the topic style configured for that board. They can sort Hot and New posts within the topic board, too.
Note: You cannot restrict who can post to board topics, but you can mark individual posts within the board/topic as moderator-only or locked.
