Course and Learning Path Reviews help learners share feedback after completing a course or learning path. Reviews can help other members decide what to take next and give admins a clear way to manage ratings, comments, and discussions in one place.
This feature supports both Courses and Learning Paths.
How reviews work
Learners can leave a review only after completing a course or learning path.
Depending on your review settings, a review can include:
a star rating
a written comment
Each learner can submit one review per course or learning path. They can return later to edit that review, and any updates are saved to the same review.
If comments are enabled, members can also:
clap for comments and replies
reply to review comments
add multiple replies in the same discussion
Star ratings and written comments are managed together as one review.
Set up learner reviews
Admins can control whether reviews are available and what learners are allowed to submit.
Available settings include:
Enable Learner Reviews
Turns reviews on or off for courses and learning paths.Allow Writing Comment
Lets learners add written feedback along with their rating.Comments Require Approval
Requires admin approval before comments and replies are visible to other members.
Star ratings do not require approval. Only comments and replies follow the approval workflow.

Leave a review
After completing a course or learning path, learners can open the detail page and submit a review.
If ratings are enabled, they can select a star rating.
If comments are enabled, they can also write a comment.
The rating and comment are saved together as a single review.
Learners who have not completed the course or learning path cannot leave a review.
Learner submits a star rating and written review on a completed course.
Where reviews appear
When reviews are enabled, rating information appears across the learning experience.
Course and learning path cards
Cards can show:
the average rating
the total number of ratings
If ratings are turned off, rating information does not appear.
If no one has submitted a rating yet, the rating area stays hidden.
Course or learning path detail page
A Reviews section appears near the bottom of the page.
Depending on your settings, learners can see:
the average rating
their own rating, if they have already submitted one
published review comments
replies under each comment
clap counts for comments and replies
Learners can sort reviews by:
Popular
Latest
Highest rating
Lowest rating
Selecting the rating summary on the page takes the learner directly to the Reviews section.

Edit a review
Learners can return later to update their rating or comment.
When a learner edits a review:
the same review is updated
a new review is not created
If comment approval is enabled, edited comments return to pending approval before they are visible to other members again.
How comment approval works
If comment approval is turned on, comments and replies must be approved before other members can see them.
This means:
star ratings are visible after submission
comments remain pending until approved
replies remain pending until approved
edited comments return to pending approval
edited replies return to pending approval
Authors can still see their own pending content. Other members only see published comments and replies.
If a review or reply is deleted, it is removed from the learner-facing experience.
Manage reviews in the dashboard

approve comments more quickly
keep discussions active and up to date
Admin approves a pending review comment from the dashboard.
Notifications for replies and reactions
Gradual can notify learners when someone interacts with their reviews.
In-app notifications
Replies appear in the Comments area of Notification Center.
Claps appear in the Reactions area of Notification Center.
Selecting a notification takes the learner to the course or learning path detail page and scrolls to the Reviews section.
Email notifications
Unread replies are grouped into email updates and sent every 30 minutes.
These emails help learners return to the relevant course or learning path discussion.
Best practices
Reviews work best when the setup matches the kind of feedback you want to collect.
Use ratings only when you want a quick feedback signal.
Use ratings and comments when you want more detailed insight from learners.
Turn on comment approval when your team wants to review written feedback before it appears publicly.
Check pending reviews regularly so learner feedback is published while it is still timely.
Example use cases
Collect quick feedback at scale
Enable star ratings only to make it easy for learners to share feedback with minimal effort.
Gather detailed learner feedback
Enable comments so learners can explain what they found helpful, what was unclear, or what they would like improved.
Moderate learner discussions
Require approval for comments and replies when your team wants more control over what appears on course and learning path pages.
Encourage peer interaction
Allow comments and replies to create space for follow-up questions, shared takeaways, and discussion around the learning experience.
