Dashboard Notifications for Community Activity

Dashboard Notifications help admins stay up to date with member activity across Forum, Content, and Courses. You can choose which activities to monitor, review notifications from one place, and quickly open the related activity in your community.

Access your notifications

Click the notification icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard to view your notifications.

When you have unread notifications, the icon displays the number of unread items.

From the Notifications page, use the tabs at the top to filter activity by:

  • All

  • Content Activities

  • Course Activities

  • Forum Activities

Notifications are listed with the newest activity first.

Review notification details

Each notification includes information to help you understand what happened and where the activity took place.

You’ll see details such as:

  • The member who performed the activity

  • The activity, such as commenting on Content or replying to a Course comment

  • A preview of the comment, reply, or other activity

  • The related Content item, Course, or Forum

  • When the activity occurred

  • A status such as Pending Approval when the activity requires moderation

Unread notifications are marked with a colored dot to the left of the notification.

Open an activity from a notification

Click a notification to open the related page in your community in a new browser tab.

For example, a Forum notification can take you directly to the related post or comment, while a Content or Course notification opens the related item.

Opening an unread notification also marks it as read and updates your unread notification count.

To mark the unread notifications currently displayed as read, click Mark all as read in the top-right corner of the Notifications page.

Customize your notification settings

Notification settings are saved to your individual admin account, so each admin can choose which activities they are responsible for monitoring.

To manage your notification settings:

  1. Open the Notifications page.

  2. Click Settings in the top-right corner.

  3. Under Community Activity Notifications, review your settings for Forum Activity, Content Comment, and Course Comment.

  4. Use the ON/OFF toggle to enable or disable each notification category.

  5. Where available, click Edit to customize the activities you want to monitor.

Turning a notification category off stops new notifications for that category.

Notifications you’ve already received remain available.

Forum Activity notifications

Forum Activity notifications help you monitor activity taking place in your community’s Forum.

Community admins can choose which boards to monitor and receive notifications for:

  • New Posts

  • New Comments / Replies

  • New Reported Content

To customize Forum notifications, click Edit next to Forum Activity, select the activity types and boards you want to monitor, and save your changes.

By default, Forum Activity notifications are ON for All Boards, with New Reported Content selected.

In a Club Dashboard, Forum Activity notifications cover the current club’s Forum.

Content Comment notifications

Content Comment notifications keep you updated when members comment or reply to comments on Content.

Community admins can choose which areas to monitor from the Scope setting:

  • Main Community

  • All Clubs

  • Selected clubs

By default, Content Comment notifications are ON for the Main Community and All Clubs.

In a Club Dashboard, Content Comment notifications cover Content within the current club.

Course Comment notifications

Course Comment notifications keep community admins updated when members add review comments or replies to Courses.

The activity type appears as New Review Comments / Replies in Personal Settings.

Course Comment notifications are ON by default and are available from the Community Admin Dashboard.

Notifications that require moderation

Activity that requires moderation can still appear in your Notifications page.

For example, when a new or edited post, comment, or reply is waiting for approval, the notification displays a Pending Approval status so you can quickly identify activity that needs attention.

Reported Forum activity is also included when New Reported Content is enabled.

Using notifications across Community and Club Dashboards

Community admins can monitor Forum Activity, Content Comment, and Course Comment notifications.

Club admins, managers, and editors can monitor Forum Activity and Content Comment notifications for their club.

If you have access to both the Community Admin Dashboard and a Club Dashboard, the read status of the same notification is connected to your account. Reading it from one dashboard also marks it as read in the other.

Because notification settings are personal, admin teams can divide monitoring responsibilities. For example, one admin can monitor Forum reports across all boards while another focuses on Content comments from selected clubs.

Additional notification behavior

Each qualifying activity generates its own notification. For example, multiple replies to the same post or multiple reports on the same item appear as separate notifications.

Activities performed by admins can also appear in the Notification Center when they match that admin’s notification settings.
