Events
When building an event in Gradual, the event remains unpublished and hidden from the front end of your community until you Publish it. This setting allows you to keep the event in draft form until it is complete.
Attendees can register for an event no matter if it is published, unlisted, or unpublished.
The Event Link found in the dashboard leads to a live event landing page where members can register - even if the event is not published.
Because this event is not published, it will not appear on the front end and is only accessible by the direct Event link. Members who register on the front end, from the event landing page all automated emails (confirmation and reminders) that are enabled will be sent to registrants. If Google Calendar integration is enabled, the calendar invite will appear on all registrants' calendars. If members are added as attendees from the dashboard, they will not receive any automations.

Unlist an event
If you'd like users to be able to register for an event, that is hidden from the front end and only accessible by a direct event link, you could also build the event and publish it, but list the Event page privacy as 'unlisted'. With this setting, the event registrants will receive email confirmations, reminders, and calendar invites if enabled.
Learn more about that setting here.
Publish an event
To publish an event, navigate to the Overview page, hover over Actions on the top right, and click on Publish or click the green Publish button at the base of the main menu on the left.
A published event appears on the front end of the community on the homepage and Events page. It will also appear in search results. If an event is Space restricted, it will only appear on the homepage and event page for those in the space. For published events, all automated emails (confirmation and reminders) that are enabled will be sent to registrants. If Google Calendar integration is enabled, the calendar invite WILL appear on all registrants' calendars. If members are added as attendees from the dashboard, they will not receive any automations.
Unpublish an event
To unpublish an event, navigate to the Overview page, hover over Actions on the top right, and select Unpublish.
An unpublished event does not appear on the front end of the community at all. It will not appear in search results. Attendees can only register through the Event link or can be manually registered in the dashboard; space restrictions will still apply.

Content
When creating content in Gradual, the video or blog remains unpublished and hidden from the front end of your community until you Publish it. This setting allows you to keep the content in draft form until it is complete, or keep it hidden from most members, and sent to only a select group through the direct URL.
Members can see content pages regardless of whether the content is published.
The Video or Blog URL found in the dashboard leads to a live content page where members can watch or read the content piece, even if the content is not published. Because the content is not published, it will not appear on the front end and is only accessible by the direct URL link.
Publish Content
Navigate to the content page in the dashboard and select the green Publish button in the upper right.
A published piece of content appears on the front end of the community on the home page and Content. It will appear in search results and page views will be counted. If content is Space restricted, it will only appear on the homepage and content page for those in the space.
Unpublish Content
Navigate to the content page in the dashboard and select the red Unpublish button in the upper right.
A piece of unpublished content does not appear on the front end of the community on the home page and Content. It will not appear in search results.
