Admin Audit Log

See and track major changes to your community settings, events, content, and customized emails.

Changes made by dashboard admins across your community can be tracked in your community dashboard in Settings → Audit Log. This log helps admins see who made changes, what changed, when, and which item was affected. It also sends the admin assigned in the dashboard a daily summary of what changed.

To see the list of current community administrators, navigate to the Permissions tab in your dashboard main menu. To add or remove administrators to your dashboard, follow these steps.

What is logged?

The Audit Log covers changes across the dashboard. Use the Category filter on the page to see every category available in your community. The sections below cover the most common ones.

Most of these actions can be taken by any dashboard administrator, but the event activities are accessible by collaborators or those with event permissions.

Settings

The system will log any additions or changes to high-level community settings:

  • Settings → Community Settings → Community Name

  • Settings → Community Settings → Community Description

  • Settings → Community Settings → Policies

  • Settings → Community Settings → Logos

  • Settings → Sign-up Settings → Sign-up Mode

  • Settings → Sign-up Settings → Sign-Up Mode and Sign-Up Options

  • Settings → System Settings → Email Settings

  • Settings → System Settings → Community Options

Page Customization

The system will log major changes made in Home → Customization, including changes to banners, ads, built-in pages, custom pages, and the menu.

  • Banners → Change banner visibility

  • Ads → Turn ads on or off

  • Built-In Pages → Save edits to built-in page settings

  • Custom Pages → Publish or unpublish a custom page

  • Menu → Add, delete, rename, reorder, or change the visibility of menu items”

Integrations

The system will log any additions or changes to Integrations with your Gradual community.

  • Integrations → Add / Remove or Reconfigure any Integration

Permissions

The system will log any additions or changes to Permissions: dashboard administrators or collaborators:

  • Permissions → Add / Remove Permissions

  • Collaborators → Add / Remove Collaborators

Members

The system will log changes to a member's type or approval status, and how a member was added to the community:

  • Member type and approval status changes, recorded with the value before and after the change

  • Bulk import of members, including the member type and status changes it makes

  • Members added through an invitation, added as a speaker, or approved from a membership application

  • Members added to a sub-community by a workflow, recorded in the main community's audit log with the member and the sub-community

A change is only recorded when something actually changes: re-applying a member's current type or status does not create an entry.

Events

The system will log anytime an event is created, published or unpublished:

  • Events → Create event

  • Events → Publish event

  • Events → Unpublish event

Emails

The community Audit Log records when a customized email is deleted. This includes community customized emails, event customized emails, and club announcement emails.

  • Emails → Delete customized email

The email name is preserved in the Audit Log so you can identify which email was deleted. Because the email no longer exists, its name appears as plain text rather than as a link.

For changes made to an existing customized email, open that email and select Actions > Audit Log to view its individual change history.

Audit Log Page

The Audit Log page can be accessed in the dashboard from Settings → Audit Log. Each entry shows the time, the admin who made the change, the category, the item that was affected, and what changed. Where the item still exists, its name links to that item in the dashboard.

Filter the list by name, activity, category, item, or a date range. Select Export to receive the log as a spreadsheet — it is prepared in the background and emailed to you as a download link.

Where a change came from

Most entries show the dashboard admin who made the change, with a link to their profile. Changes made through the public API are recorded as API, changes made by a workflow are recorded under that workflow's name, and changes that came from the Salesforce integration are recorded as Salesforce.

Audit Log Email Notifications

The account listed as “Admin Notification Recipient” receives one summary email per day covering that day's changes. The subject line shows the date and how many changes were made, and the email lists the time, the admin, and what changed, with a View Audit Log button. No email is sent on a day with no activity.

You can see or change the Admin Notification Recipient email address in Settings > System Settings > Email Settings.
