Clubs: Migrate community events or content to a club

Move an event or content piece from the community level into a chapter, interest group or club from the dashboard

Updated yesterday

Events or content pieces that were created at the community level can now be moved to a group or chapter. The change is made via the dashboard and can be handled by those with full dashboard admin access.

Dashboard Admins

Only dashboard admins can make these changes and move events and content pieces to clubs, chapters, and interest groups. Dashboard admins are added in the main dashboard, in the Permissions tab.

These other dashboard users do not have access to move or migrate events or content:

  • Collaborators at any level (event or content admin, manager or editors) cannot move community events or content to the club level

  • Club collaborators at any level (club admins, managers or editors) cannot move community events or content to their club

  • Event or Content Permission users at any level (admins, managers or editors) cannot move community events or content to the club level

Migrate/Move Events

All event types can be moved from the community level to the club level. Dashboard admins can make this change from the event list or from the overview page in the event dashboard.

To avoid member access issues, space-restricted content or events cannot be moved to the club level and must be adjusted to member-only, gated, or public before the system will allow you to move it.

Steps to migrate the event

  1. Log into the admin dashboard

  2. Navigate to the event list

    1. Select the edit icon in line with the community level event and select 'Migrate to club'

    2. Or, select the event from the list, and in the Actions drop down in the upper right, select 'Migrate to club'

  3. Select the club where you'd like the event to migrate to, and select 'Next'

    1. Note: Admins can only move the event to one club, and it cannot be moved back to the community level or to another club from the dashboard

  4. Promote to community: When you migrate the event, you can opt to have the event promoted at the community level, or remain only promoted and visible in the club - this setting is on by default

  5. Select 'Start Migrate' to move the event

The system will email the admin when it is complete and all attendees have been migrated:

Attendees will become club members

If the event has attendees registered, the attendees will also join the target club automatically. They will not receive any notifications or emails of joining.

The 'Organized By' field will be changed to the Club

The 'Organized by' field will update to list the Club once this migration is made. If an individual or organization has been listed in the 'Organized by' field in the event dashboard, those settings will not change to the club.

Important: Once it's moved, the event will now appear within the club's event list. Admins can only move the event to one club, and it cannot be moved back to the community level or to another club from the dashboard.

Migrate/Move Content

All content types can be moved from the community level, to the club level. Dashboard admins can make this change from the content detail page.

Content comments

If there are comments on the content piece, they will remain on the content piece in the club. But, commenters won’t be added to the club as members through this action.

Important: Once it's moved, the content will now appear within the club's content list. Admins can only move the content to one club, and it cannot be moved back to the community level or to another club from the dashboard.

Notes

  • Events and content can only be moved from the community level to the club level, not from the club level to the community level from the dashboard

  • Events and content cannot be moved from one club to another club from the dashboard

  • Only dashboard admins can make this change and move content or events
