Mentions & Tagging Members

Use the @ mentions feature to tag users in Forum posts and replies so they are notified to check out the discussion

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Members can now mention other members, or themselves using the "@" symbol in all parts of the Forum. This feature tags these members, notifies them of the mention, and works to drive them to discussions that are pertinent to them.

How to mention a member

To mention a member, and tag them, simply type the "@" symbol followed by their name. The system will populate any members with that name, and you will select their profile from the selections that appear.

Note: Limited Approval members cannot be tagged or mentioned using this feature and cannot access Forum posts or replies at this access level.

Link to Profile

Users can access the mentioned member's profile by hovering over their tag, and clicking their name.

Notifications

Members will be notified in the platform and via email when they have been mentioned via this method.

In the community

In the platform, they will see a small red dot appear in the notification center in the upper right. They can click into the notification center, and to the 'Mentions' tab to see the posts or comments where they were tagged.

Email notification

If a member does not see it in the community, they will be alerted via email when they have been tagged. The email will link them directly to the post where they are mentioned.

By default, they will be batch notified via email every three hours, but they can opt out of these emails at any time from their Profile menu in the community, in Notification Settings.

System-wide notification settings

As a dashboard admin, you can opt to disable these email notifications for Forum engagement entirely. Turn off these emails from sending to all members in the dashboard in Forum Settings
